Senior Design Strategist
Location: Midwest (Remote)

We are seeking an individual that is eager to help the Design and Innovation Strategy team continue to grow and expand their capabilities and resources. You should be comfortable with and fluent in discovering growth opportunities across multiple business units and developing tactical plans to turn opportunities into actions. You should be comfortable with ambiguity and complexity because sometimes that leads to the most unique, unexpected design solutions. You possess a strong work ethic and are willing to “do what it takes” to get the job done. 


You have a true passion for Design and Innovation Strategy, as evidenced by your career and education choices. You have extensive experience in product development and can identify product and service opportunities for the future. You have a talent for seeing patterns in qualitative and quantitative data. You are a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of how to connect user needs with business goals. You are a great storyteller with the ability to explain complicated concepts in a clear, concise way. You demonstrate high standards of workmanship and attention to detail and can help improve departmental processes and best practices.


You like to explore new territories and learn from others. You have a deep understanding of the business framework, quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, and design processes, and you take the initiative to improve them. 


You are self-motivated and have a demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills – all needed for research, facilitation, interviews, and presentations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Use the facilitation superpower to drive strategic alignment and build partnerships with key stakeholders.

  • Create forward-looking, evidence-based strategies that connect user needs and business goals within technical limitations.

  • Present strategic recommendations through data visualization, storytelling, and written analysis to stakeholders.

  • Work with the internal and external research teams to develop quantitative and qualitative research studies and translate the research data into actionable insights.

  • Analyze the industry, market, social, and technology trends. Develop unique perspectives and find product/service design opportunities.


Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in design or a related discipline.  

  • At least ten years in design consulting, design research, or product management role.

  • Able to smoothly use design and digital prototyping tools

  • Submission of a portfolio is required for consideration

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Service design experience

  • Hardware/Software design integration experience

  • Product design/development experienced in the regulated industry

  • Medical product design/research experience
